VA - Best of Cuba (2017)

A glorious and exhilarating collection of some of the greatest Cuban Buena Vista and 'post Buena Vista' musicians and groups. This fine collection of Cuban musicians includes tracks performed by Luis Frank, Soneros de Verdad, Mayito Rivera, Rudy Calzado, César Pedroso.

Luis Frank is one of the greatest master singers of son Cubano, the Afro-Cuban music that originated from East Cuba in the late 19th century. Luis Frank is lead singer of the most successful son Cubano band - Soneros de Verdad - which "sees itself as the second generation following in the footsteps of Buena Vista Social Club. It comprises seven virtuoso musicians from the land of Fidel Castro who are regarded as being among the world's best.

After more than 20 years as the lead singer of Cuban's highly successful Los Van Van, Cuban vocal star Mayito Rivera has been a member of and touring with Soneros de Verdad across Europe and the USA since 2012. Mayito performs 'Son pa' Shakira' and 'Harley Davidson de Cuba' on 'Best of Cuba'.

Other notable musicians on 'Best of Cuba' include pianist César Pedroso and Roberto Santamaria, nephew of legendary Cuban percussionist Ramon 'Mongo' Santamaria who popularised Cuban music with 'Watermelon Man' and 'Afro Blues'. Santana, Miles Davis and Chick Corea count as just some of the names that played in Santramaria's orchestra. 'Best of Cuba' is out through ARC Music globally on 28th July, 2017.
