VA - La Folle Journee 2018: Vers Un Nouveau Monde (2018)

During their career, many composers have had to leave their country at some point, and sometimes even their home continent.A voluntary exile for some and sometimes forced for others.Totalitarian regimes, censorship, persecutions, forced many composers to leave their country: Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, Stravinsky, Bartok, Schoenberg, Granados or Albéniz have had to find refuge in host countries like France or the United States.For others, this exile was voluntary. A desire to discover the world, other cultures or new languages. An opening to the world, a source of inspiration, stimulating and fulfilling for many musicians. This is particularly the case of Antonín Dvořák, a Czech composer, who was invited to conduct the New York Conservatory at the end of his life.These are all these works, born of a confrontation sometimes even of an opposition between two worlds, two places, two languages, that La Folle Journée 2018 will pay homage through its theme "Towards a new world".
