This time the attention is on the female singers who also contributed strongly to the genre during its heyday. With its blend of Cajun music and the lilting lazy feel of New Orleans R&B as exemplified by many of Fats Domino's hits. This music was popular in Louisiana and Texas and their neighbouring states and for a brief period encompassed by this compilation became a pop phenomenon breaking out into the American pop charts ♫
